Wolf in Brandy Melville

Writing by Lizzie Armitage, artwork by Seth Statham.

Black eyes glint at me from the jewellery box, set in gilded emblems of blasphemy

Coward, thief, devil

The snake in Eve’s ear

Kissing you on the cheek, I sold your soul for two pieces of brass while draped in virgin blue

I don’t believe in God, but I believe in sin

It writhes within me like an eel as black as oil

Exposed to the light it grows, thrashing against my organs and threatening to escape from my throat

I snap the box shut
